An Egyptian National Network for civic education stakeholders was initiated under the umbrella of NACE by The Danish Egyptian Dialogue Institute (DEDI), Goethe-Institute and Tahrir Lounge. The Kick-off Meeting of the Egyptian National Network for Civic Education was held on 30th October, 2017 at Grand Nile Tower Hotel.
The objective of the event was to create a platform for civic education practitioners in Egypt, providing the opportunity to network, share best practices, discuss common challenges and opportunities, while contributing to the strengthening of active citizenship in the country. It was a closed meeting, and the invitation was extended to the main actors in Civic Education in Egypt, among which seventeen organizations attended the Event. The meeting Agenda was designed in a participatory manner with the purpose of providing the opportunity to network, share best practices, discuss common challenges and opportunities, while introducing the participants to NACE vision and values. The meeting was hosted by Menan Farag, Project Officer at DEDI; Mona Shahin, Founder and Director of Tahrir Lounge; Shahdan Arram, Head of Civic Education Program at DEDI. The meeting was facilitated by Rana Gaber, the Program Manager of Ambassadors for Dialogue, Egypt, and the Advisory Board member at NACE. The meeting was concluded by a round of reflections by all the attendees who shared their enthusiasm to participate in the sub network’s future activities.
