The first Civic Education Conference (CEC) took place from 8 to 10th of December 2013 in Alexandria, Egypt. The CEC was organised by the Goethe-Institut Cairo and the Tahrir Lounge@goethe in co-operation with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Center for Democracy and Social Peace Studies, the Hanns-Seidel Foundation as well the Federal Agency for Civic Education. It was the first conference on citizenship education in Egypt.
In preparation of this conference, a diverse group of Egyptian civil society professionals took part in a study trip in November 2012, to explore the application of citizenship education in Germany on the governmental, non-governmental and individual level. Following the study trip the whole group attended the NECE Conference in Cordobá from 21 – 24 November 2012. Resulting from the experience of the study trip and the conference visit, the group identified several topics of citizenship education to be addressed in the Egyptian context.
Over 200 participants from a variety of fields and countries joined the discussion to draft some 60 recommendations providing a basis for a road map to develop the sector.
The conference especially explored outreach, terminology, policies, and stakeholders’ engagement. Plenaries offered a number of impulses to present questions of common concerns.

عُقد مؤتمر التعليم المدني الأول (CEC) في الفترة من 8 إلى 10 ديسمبر 2013 في الإسكندرية ، مصر.
تم تنظيم مؤتمر التعليم المدني من قبل معهد جوته القاهرة والتحرير لاونج @ goethe بالتعاون مع مكتبة الإسكندرية ومركز الدراسات الديمقراطية والسلام الاجتماعي ومؤسسة هانس-سايدل وكذلك الوكالة الفيدرالية للتربية المدنية. كان أول مؤتمر حول تعليم المواطنة في مصر.
أثناء الإعداد لهذا المؤتمر ، شاركت مجموعة متنوعة من المتخصصين من المجتمع المدني المصري في رحلة دراسية في نوفمبر 2012 ، لاستكشاف تطبيق تعليم المواطنة في ألمانيا على المستوى الحكومي وغير الحكومي والفردي. بعد الرحلة الدراسية ، حضرت المجموعة بأكملها مؤتمر الشبكة الأوروبية لتعليم الديمقراطية في قرطبة من 21 إلى 24 نوفمبر 2012. ونتيجةً للخبرة الناتجة عن الرحلة الدراسية وزيارة المؤتمر ، حددت المجموعة عدة موضوعات لتعليم المواطنة ليتم تناولها في السياق المصري.
وشارك أكثر من 200 مشارك من مجالات وبلدان متنوعة في النقاش لصياغة حوالي 60 توصية توفر أساسًا لخريطة طريق لتطوير هذا القطاع.
