Short Study Visit for Civic Education Stakeholders from Jordan, Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia
14 – 20 October 2018, Germany

The study visit aims at fostering professional exchange and knowledge transfer between civic education experts from Germany, Jordan, Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia. It provides the participants with in-depth insights on the field of civic education in Germany through, i.e. expert rounds, field trips and excursions.
Extensive sessions will be dedicated to share and discuss both approaches and experiences from Germany and the MENA region.
The study visit is organised by Haus am Maiberg, Academy of Social and Political Education in Heppenheim/Germany in cooperation with Goethe-Institut Cairo, the German Agency for Civic Education (Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung, bpb) and NACE (Networking Arab Civic Education).
Who can apply?
Stakeholders in the field of civic education from Jordan, Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia can apply. Fluency in English is required as it will be the main language of the study trip.
We aim to include participants from different backgrounds and to have a balanced representation of
women and men in the group. Moreover, we welcome applications from civic education stakeholders
who work for organisations putting forward colleagues belonging to minorities in their countries, or who are migrants or refugees.
We will ensure a diversity of participants from established and smaller/new organisations and a diversity of urban and countryside based organisations; the value basis of the sending organisations will be compatible with civic education as a whole.
The expenses for international flights and accommodation as well as additional travel expenses will be funded through the Goethe-Institut’s “Dialogue & Transition” programme, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. The programme empowers civil societies in Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Morocco, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq with different projects in the fields of culture and education. The projects under the “Dialogue & Transition” framework primarily target young people active in civil society and education, a key objective being the development of a well-trained civil society with a high level of confidence and selfunderstanding.
Education is further the key to shaping the future and active participation of all citizens,
both men and women.
The deadline for application is 16 September 2018.
Please send your application with a letter of motivation and CV to sina.lebert@goethe.de. Please include relevant information on the institution you are affiliated with and attach a short statement on your own professional experiences and/or practices you would like to share with the group.
